The critical role of early intervention in mental health

Early intervention through comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and subsequent referral to the right treatment and supports can prevent mental health problems from compounding and poor life outcomes from accumulating. It can interrupt the negative course of some mental illnesses and may, in some cases, result in a substantially shorter and less disabling course of illness.
