No. Loffty doesn’t replace your doctor, psychologist, or any other qualified mental health professional, and it isn’t a diagnostic tool. It helps you organise your information and priorities so you and your clinician can focus on what matters most, sooner. Think of it as a decision-support tool that gathers your information quickly and clearly so your practitioner can spot priorities, ask better questions earlier, and tailor care more effectively.
No, Loffty is a web application and so you need to be online to complete your assessment.
No. The Loffty report does not show exactly how each question is answered however, the 'More Info' button in the report provides detailed patient-specific symptomatology along with a severity rating for each condition assessed. The Loffty report provides key information for you to investigate further. For example when someone is assessed as having a mild, moderate or severe rating for a condition, you would further investigate to confirm the self assessment and determine next steps.
Because Loffty is based on self-report, the results are only as accurate as the information entered. If something was selected by mistake or feelings have changed, the report will look different from what it would with corrected responses. Your follow-up consultation is the time for you to go through the report with your practitioner, clarify answers, and agree on next steps. Loffty doesn’t claim to be “right” or “wrong”; it summarises what you have told it, similar to any structured clinical interview.
Yes, you don't need computer skills to complete Loffty. You simply tap or click your answers on a phone, tablet, or computer - no typing is required. The questions are short and written in everyday language (about a Year 7 reading level). If reading is difficult, you’re welcome to ask someone you trust to read the questions to you or use your device’s accessibility features like text-to-speech or zoom. You can also take breaks and return to finish later
No, your Loffty report does not get emailed to your practitioner. If you choose to share your Loffty report with a qualified practitioner, they will access it by logging in to their secure Loffty practitioner portal. If your practitioner refers you to another mental health specialist, they can securely forward your Loffty report through their preferred medical information systems, so it never needs to be emailed.
Loffty doesn’t diagnose me or replace your practitioner. It’s a self-assessment that captures your answers exactly and turns them into a clear report. Research shows structured, computer-based questionnaires can surface more detail than a single face-to-face interview, which helps my appointments be more focused. My practitioner uses the Loffty report to spot priorities and guide next steps—any evaluation or diagnosis is still their call.
To share your Loffty report, click Share on the report and select a practitioner from the map. If you can't find your practitioner (or one you want to use) on our map, email us at helpdesk@loffty.com with their name and practice details, and we will ask them to register.
Firstly, Loffty is not a psychometric test. A psychometric test is not a clinical evaluation for mental health purposes, but rather a tool often used by recruitment firms or HR departments to assess a person’s suitability to a particular job profile. Loffty is not a computer-generated ‘Personality Profile’. Loffty is a clinical mental health self-assessment tool. Compared with cumbersome, paper-based psychiatric outcome tools, Loffty has significant advantages. Most tools are only able to provide an assessment of one or two disorders in isolation. Loffty is unique in its ability to assess multiple conditions simultaneously, which is extremely important in helping your chosen mental health professional to understand you fully.
Most users complete a Loffty assessment in about 15-30 minutes. Some may be a little faster and some may take longer but there is no time limit to complete a Loffty assessment.
Loffty is intended for individuals aged 16 and above. Users under 16 may use Loffty with the agreement of a parent or caregiver. To receive accurate guidance, please provide truthful responses.
If you are interrupted when doing your Loffty assessment and you can’t finish it at that time, don’t worry as Loffty remembers the last question you answered and you can resume your session at another time from exactly where you left off.
If you refer your clients to register themselves and nominate you as their practitioner, they pay Loffty directly the one-off assessment fee (see pricing on the Practitioner page). If you prepay for bulk assessments you receive volume discounts and you can pass discounts on to your patients/clients as you see fit when you invoice them.
Loffty was originally conceived in 2003 by Dr John Clarkson, a New Zealand-born, Australian-based doctor, and has been further developed over the years by an interdisciplinary team of mental health professionals in Australia and the US.
